Canadian Ocean Literacy Strategy 2.0
What is the National Strategy 2.0?
In March 2021, COLC published Land, Water, Ocean, Us: The Canadian Ocean Literacy Strategy, uniting fragmented efforts, fostering collaboration, and establishing a framework for action across regions, sectors, and scales.
Now, more than three years into implementing the National Strategy, we’re reflecting on our progress, learning from challenges, and charting a refreshed path forward to 2030.
The National Strategy 2.0 aims to:
- Celebrate achievements and measure collective impact.
- Address challenges, gaps, and opportunities for growth.
- Co-create updated goals and actionable priorities to drive meaningful ocean action across Canada.
Timeline & Consultation Process
To ensure the updated strategy is meaningful, inclusive, and actionable, we’re engaging partners and the broader ocean literacy community across sectors and regions.

- Empower people in Canada to better understand, value, and care for the ocean
